Scott M. Van Vliet Scott M. Van Vliet, Founder, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Environmental Refuelling Systems Inc. (ERS) has a BSc. in Agriculture from Montana State University. Scott is a Canadian who grew up in agriculture and made a career in the cattle business working on ranches throughout North and South America. During this time he also shipped beef to Asia and exported genetics across the globe. In 2004, he returned to Alberta from Uruguay to begin a career in the petroleum services industry.
Initially, working with his father developing innovative storage and dispensing systems for remote helicopter operations led Scott to develop fully self-contained patented cardlock systems. In 2005, Scott along with his father and brother founded ERS to service the upstream oil and gas market providing Complete Fuel Management solutions for large remote projects. In 2008 Scott received the Entrepreneur of the Year award from the Canadian Environmental Advancement Corporation–West (CETAC- West). Scott continues to support CETAC-West as a mentor for emerging Entrepreneurs. In 2010 Scott was nominated with his brother and father as finalists for EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year awards for the Prairie region.
In addition to ERS, Scott co-founded another family business called Frac Shack Inc. Frack Shack is a fully patented automated fuel delivery system designed specifically to safely and effectively deliver high volumes of fuel to Frac pumper units operating on completions pads. Scott’s brother and father would go on to run and co-own this business after several years of development together.
Scott proudly serves on the Board of Directors for the Petroleum Services Association of Canada (PSAC). Currently Scott sits as Chair for the 2017-2018 term. He has served on various PSAC committees. Scott was Chairman of the 2017 STARS and Spurs Gala in support of STARS Air Ambulance where they raised over $700,000 for STARS. Scott has previously been PSAC’s representative for the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) in their Executive Policy Groups. Scott also serves as a Governor for the Canadian Energy Executive Association.
Scott is a strong believer in supporting the communities in which he lives and works. ERS has been supporter of food banks, amateur sports clubs and elite athletes. Sponsorships include Future Cowboys and Cowgirls Society, Knights Rugby Club and Alberta Rugby. ERS remains a strong supporter of the Fort McMurray and Calgary Food banks. ERS participated in an ambitious tree planting program in the oil sands region and was instrumental in the supply and distribution of fuel to citizens and emergency services during the 2016 Ft. McMurray fires. Scott along with several ERS employees received the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo; Award for Public Service, for their commitment during the fire.
